It’s already happened in Australia (4:00pm, December 31st 2010 NYC time = 8:00am, January 1st 2011 Sydney Time) and Shanghai and Dubai and the bells are ringing now throughout Moscow. Just as I prepare for a special New Year’s Eve dinner my friends in Hungary and the Czech Republic will shout from their rooftops into the blazing night. Hour by hour, the skies will illuminate the faces of joyful people wishing each other well.
Reflecting on this holiday, one of the few [almost] universally celebrated days of the year, reminds me of the Disney song and token phrase, “It’s a small world after all”. Tonight, we are all connected by one thing: hope for a healthy, happy and successful 2011.
CHEERS TO THE NEW YEAR!
